Happy Holidays

Wow, what a year it has been for all of the children in Room 21! We have certainly learnt a lot about ourselves, the world around us and each other.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Well done Lucia

Congratulations Lucia on receiving a certificate today at assembly. You are showing our 'Mana' GEM by making good choices about your learning.

Splish, Splash

This week we were able to get out in the sun and enjoy the pool. It was so much fun diving under the water to collect pool toys, having swimming races and splashing around.

We also had a handstand competition, a floating competition and tried to see if we could roll from our backs to our tummies and back again.

We can't wait to go swimming again next week!

Room 21's GOT TALENT

Room 21's GOT TALENT was a fabulous occasion for Room 21 to share with their peers their hidden talents. The children showed great courage and confidence at getting up in front of an audience and performing. For those that chose not to perform they were allocated special jobs. We had sound, technical assistants and stage crew.

Check out the video below-(apologies in advance for the rotation of videos)

Monday 17th August

Morning all,

I hope you had a great weekend.  I know you would have been out and about enjoying the sunshine. I enjoyed getting some exercise out onto the rotary walkway and pulling out lots of weeds in the garden.

The slide deck for the next 2 weeks is now available. When you go onto the blog, look for the heading in red that says Learning at Home. This slide deck will last for two weeks. You can complete as many activities as you are able to however, there is no pressure to complete them all. The TV channel also starts up again from this morning for you to access at home. The slide deck and daily videos will be our focus for this week.

We will be discussing the possibility of having Google Meets in Week 6. We will let you know specific details nearer the time.

Feel free to share your learning with me once a week and I can post it onto the blog.

Today's Riddle
I’m tall when I’m young, and I’m short when I’m old, what am I?

Learning at home this week

For learning this week, watch out for the daily message from me on the blog.  If you would like to do some learning at home you can access the previous slide decks as there are plenty of activities that can still be used.  And of course it is Maths week and the website is full of fabulous activities that your child might like to have a go at.  This link will be on the blog https://www.mathsweek.co.nz/ Remember to read, read, read!

Should we be in Level 3 for a prolonged period new distance learning from home slide decks will be accessible from Monday 17th August.

You know at Sunnyhills we value the well being of our GEMS and whanau, so please do not feel pressured to complete any academic tasks.

The school will continue to communicate with you via email and the blogs.

We will be in touch as we know more.

Fractions with Pizza

Room 21 has been learning about fractions during Maths. Today we decided to put our new knowledge to the test by making pizza.  We had to work out how many pizza bases we would need if every child and teacher was going to eat 1/4 of a pizza.
The children did a fabulous job and had very full tummies afterwards.
Great learning Room 21!
